Reggaetón
Reggaetón music constitutes one of the latest developments in the rich history of Puerto Rican music. Influenced by US-American Hip Hop, Jamaican Dance Hall and Panamanian Reggae en Español, the genre began to develop in Puerto Rico at the beginning of the 1990's. It gradually extended its popularity throughout Latin America and within Latino communities in the USA. But it was in 2004 that the genre achieved its biggest international breakthrough with the world-famous hit "Gasolina" from Daddy Yankee, one of the pioneers and still most prominent artists of Reggaetón music. The genre has continued to evolve throughout the 21st century and new talents like Cosculluela, Farruko, J Álvarez among many others now share the spotlight with Reggaetón veterans like the duo Baby Rasta and Gringo, seen on the video below.
